The Intricacies of Poetry
Why do you write
She asked
Why such depth in your tone
He had said
It’s unusual
They whispered
People say actions
Speak louder than words
I believe this to be untrue
They have equal intentions
Words can be put into
Ballads
Anthems
Epics
They will be spoken
By the most fluent
And the inarticulate
Nevertheless they are words
Words have power,
Much like a dancer moves
to inspire the audience
The expression of words
Speak to the listener
If captivated
They have been motivated
Words formed together
correctly
Have the ability
to enchant
The soul
The mind
The body
Speak in her ear
She may shudder
The hairs on her arm
Become erect
Her eyes close
Softly whisper
And she is lulled
into your trance
It is not just the formation
But the power of tone
and dictation
The way words wisp us away
Write to bring beauty
Hope the depth
Touches the soul
Let your voice
Stand out
I said
Poetry in all its power and configuration becomes intimate with the reader as it provides insight into the mind of the poet. My own poem works to explain the intricacies of words and how they display emotions and the ability to captivate ones attention. The language of poetry is seemingly unlimited as it pervades to the imagery of the mind and is unbounded. Poetry is a play that we connect with and individually interpret, it is a song often with rhythm that flows to express a deeper meaning. Poems can communicate the underlying complexity of an idea and allow each of us to become our own poets so we are able to express our inner voice. In the midst of writing poetry we are able to freely express our emotions and explore our own thoughts. To innovatively string together a slew of words that effectively emanates eloquence and purpose drives the exploration of the creative mind and the outer reaches of what ones mind may hold.
